Dr. Nicole Caffiero earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 2014 followed by a PGY1 Community Practice Residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT and a PGY2 in Ambulatory Care at Kaiser Permanente Colorado in Denver, CO. Dr. Caffiero spent the next 5 years with Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States in Washington, DC. First, as Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Primary Care actively managing a panel of patients with chronic diseases, followed by a Project Manager in Drug Use Management which included serving as P&T Formulary Co-Chair, analyzing prescribing/financial trends, and implementing programs to help the pharmacy department reach its goals. While at Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Caffiero was actively involved in teaching pharmacy residents and served as the PGY2 Residency Program Coordinator.  

In March 2021, Dr. Caffiero joined another health insurer as a Clinical Program Senior Advisor where she designs clinical programs as part of the pharmacy clinical development team to improve patient outcomes and decrease the total cost of care. Dr. Caffiero has most recently focused on programs to improve safety in customers with substance use disorder which led her to be a part of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy’s Substance Use Disorder Workgroup. Dr. Caffiero’s areas of expertise include chronic disease state management, managed care pharmacy and clinical development. Her publications include analyzing pharmacy programs and recently completed a Master of Business Administration program. 

Dr. Caffiero’s experience with highly matrixed organizations has allowed her to refine her leadership and facilitation skills with varying team dynamics.  Dr. Caffiero was first exposed to the GiANT Worldwide materials and Dr. Jennings’ Leader Academy in early 2021, although Dr. Jennings has been a long-time coach and mentor. She became certified in the GiANT Worldwide Leadership Tools in order to help transform her colleagues into more confident individuals, empathetic teammates, and stronger leaders.
